According to investor relations of Ralph Lauren Corporation (2015)
Ralph Lauren Corporation is a leader in the design, marketing, and distribution of premium lifestyle products in four categories: apparel, home, accessories, and fragrances. For more than 47 years, Ralph Lauren's reputation and distinctive image have been consistently developed across an expanding number of products, brands, and international markets.
The luxury brand company, Ralph Lauren Corporation, has examined the pros and cons of adding diffusion brands over the course of its 40+ year history. The company has seen successes with diffusion brands at the bridge and better price zones including Polo Ralph Lauren, RRL & Co., and RLX. However, in 2013 they axed the diffusion line, Rugby. Fashion & Sustainability TXMI 4900
Defashion:A Pop-Up Exhibition Featuring Interactive Displays by Students in TXMI 4900 (Fashion and Sustainability)**
Date: Wednesday, May 3rd, 4-6pm
Location: The Georgia Museum of Art
“Students from TXMI 4900 (Fashion and Sustainability) invite you to a one-day, pop-up exhibition showcasing what they learned throughout the semester and their ideas for a more sustainable and just fashion system. From economic models to decolonial thinking, each student has created an interactive display that will educate visitors about a topic pertaining to sustainability while inviting them to reflect on their personal relationships to clothing and consumption at large. The displays will also provide visitors with tools and practical knowledge for incorporating more sustainable clothing practices into each of our daily lives.
The title Defashion comes from a term coined by the activist group Fashion Act Now to address the need to challenge the dominant, globalized fashion system that relies upon exploitation, planned obsolescence, and boundless economic growth. The term represents a transition towards clothing systems that are more fair, pluralistic, and regenerative, meeting the needs of local communities. With these goals in mind, student work in this exhibition will provide hope for a better future for people and the planet.
This event doubles as the end-of-year celebration for the members of Fair Fashion, UGA’s sustainable fashion club. The students in TXMI 4900 have collaborated with Fair Fashion throughout the semester Course of Consumers: Final Projectto organize many wonderful events including a demonstration to raise awareness about garment workers’ rights as part of Fashion Revolution Week.”
